Lindsey Lohan is one of the several troubled and seemingly out of control young stars that have been in the news lately. She is presently dealing with the courts on DUI and cocaine possession charges. She supposedly went through rehabilitation for her addictions, but was embarrassingly caught swigging from a champagne bottle at a New Year’s Eve party not quite three weeks ago.
It was announced yesterday that Lindsey Lohan will have to work at the Los Angeles County morgue as a condition of her punishment for misdemeanor drunken driving. She will have to spend two-4 hour days at the morgue in addition to working two days in a hospital emergency room. She has already spent two months in rehabilitation although based on her New Year’s Eve conduct she may need more. And talk about a really harsh punishment, she has already served time in jail…all 84 minutes of it.
I think we should all hope that the reality of seeing people who have been killed or injured as a result of drunk drivers will do the trick of changing Lindsey’s mind about her party-girl habits. And if not that, at least convince her that she should not drive after she has rendered herself less than capable by virtue of alcohol or drugs. But what Lindsey needs is not just a change of mind, she also needs a change of heart. She needs have her narcissistic, irresponsible, self-absorbed heart of stone, exchanged for a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 11: 19, 20) Ultimately, that is the only thing that will really enable her to reverse the downward spiral that she is currently in.
